Romans 10:17-So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith=pistis is the greek and is defined as faith, belief, trust, confidence; fidelity, faithfulness.
We live in a world where the word of God is becoming more and more unpopular. One thing for sure is humanity is without excuse for it man chooses not to believe the Word of God, he or she can still look throughout creation and see that God exist.
The word of God is available to everyone in the USA via books, itune, internet, television, radio, facebook, cellphones, snap chat, twitter and on and on is the availability of the Gospel to mankind.
What is sad is that many people in our world today do not see the Gospel as something of high importance in their lives. Yes, they talk a good talk about it, but, they refuse to believe, read, study, share and obey it. Instead, they prefer to deny it's authenticity.
A personal relationship with God through Christ is more important than anything else in this world because nothing we accomplish on this side called earth will be taken with us into eternity except our soul which will spend eternity forever either with God or separated from Him.
Access to the bible is at the touch of a finger these days, yet many ignore it, reject its authority and have not grasp the importance of how it is needed in their lives for the saving of their souls if they plan to spend eternity with God.
Our text declares on today that "faith" is the result of hearing God speak through the Word of God, for it is the Word of God that produces the faith needed for Salvation and spiritual growth.
Romans 1:16-For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision the people perish; but he who keeps the law, he is blessed." In other words, where there is no revelation of God from the Word of God, the people live an unrestrained life. But, blessed are those whose God's Word has been revealed and adhered to in obedience to it.
Salvation through the Word of God is a free gift of grace given by God to everyone that would hear and believe the written Word of God.
I believe that one of the greatest deception in our world today is that many people believe that salvation is of work. I can work my way to heaven, I can do good deeds and not accept the Gospel by faith and still make it into heaven because I offer my works in helping others.
Salvation is not a reward of the good works we do. We do good works because we are saved. Salvation is a free gift that has to be accepted by everyone. We can not do enough work to guarantee our self a seat in God's Kingdom. It is by faith in the Gospel alone!
Ephesians 2:8-9 You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God’s gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. 9 It isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about.
The gate to salvation is only opened through faith in the Word of God. Romans 10:17-faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Plain and simple! There is no other way!
Jesus Himself declares in John 14:6-I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Faith can not be passed from one generation to the next. No, we cannot inherit faith from our parents, grandma nor grandpa.
It does not matter how godly they are, every individual must for themselves, become personal believers in Christ Jesus through the Word of God.
Faith by hearing the Word of God for yourself is the only way to salvation for you and I.
The Apostle Paul declares these words in Romans 10:1-Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. This should be the prayer of every believer for every unbeliever.
Do you want saving faith that comes through the Word of God? Do you want to spend eternity with God?
Romans 10:8-13-8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.”[d] This is the word of faith that we preach: 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, 10 for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.”[e] 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is generous toward all who call upon Him. 13 For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. What in the world does that mean? What is saving faith? What is Paul saying here? Well, let me say this, Paul is saying that faith that produces salvation involves believing the Gospel's message about Jesus and trusting in Him.
Acts 4:12-Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
You want to spend eternity with God? It is by faith through grace alone in God's atoning work on our behalf at the cross through Christ Jesus shedding of His blood and resurrection.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Without faith in Christ, there is no eternity with God.
Faith is believing that God is who He says He is. For without faith it is impossible to please Him for all who comes to Him must believe first that He exist and then that He rewards those that diligently seek after Him.
It is the Word of God alone that produces saving faith!
