Luke 18:15-18- They also brought infants to Him that He might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not hinder them. For to such belongs the kingdom of God. 17 Truly, I say to you, whoever will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will in no wise enter it.”
Our Children too needs a personal relationship with Jesus. It starts with us bringing them to Him. Taking them to church, Sunday School, vacation bible study , talking about Jesus at home during meal times through prayer and at early morning getting up and lying down.
Your children will never know Jesus nor have a personal relationship with Him unless you introduce Him to them. It is your duty as a parent to do so.
We are commanded in scripture to train up a child in the way he or she should go. Bring them up in the training and instructions of the Lord.
Do not let Jesus be a stranger to your children, nor in your home.
God commanded Moses to first love God himself and then train the children. We are commanded to do the same. Our children has to see God in us first to be convinced first that He is and that He rewards those that diligently seek Him.
Let's listen to what God commanded Moses then and what He is commanding of us today from this same scripture that He gave Moses in Deuteronomy 6:4-9-The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
First, we have to study, memorize, teach and obey the Word of God ourselves. Then we are to teach our children by showing them through scripture that there is but one God. The Lord God in heaven, He alone is God. (2) we ourselves, must love God with all our heart, soul and strength.
Parents, let our children hear us pray, let them see us read our bibles and let them see us in worship, singing and praising to the Lord our God. Let the Word of God be on our mouth, in your hearts and impress them upon your children.
With smaller children, a good way to start would be to write scriptures on pieces of paper and let the child read them out loud at home and when riding in the car, especially on long road trips. That would be a perfect way for all the family to interact and respond.
Parents, if we want our children to one day follow God and His path of righteousness, it has to start with us. Yes, we must first lead by example by bringing our children to Jesus through His Word and His services through our services to others, our obedience to God's Word and our example of it in our lives.
Jesus loves the children and desires them to come to Him, as we see in this text.
The parents in this text was bringing their children to Jesus and the disciples wanted to turn them away, but Jesus rebuked them by saying "bring them unto me." He loves them. They are our example of humility in how we too should humbly come to Jesus.
Jesus Himself declares in this text that the children should not be turned away from Him, but brought to him so He can embrace and bless them. Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them. By doing so, Jesus showed them that He loved them and is concerned about them too.
Parents, do not let anyone hinder you from bringing your child to Jesus. If you love them, you won't let anyone hinder you. Jesus will not turn our children away, but receive them for they belong to Him also.
It is Christ-like to love children, to care for them, to welcome them and to embrace them. It is like Jesus to become indignant at those who would mistreat them.
Christianity has always been the religion that safeguarded the rights of children.
Where Christ is known and trusted and followed, and where his example is the model, there is safety.
In a world of chaos and an arena of where conformity to the world is what's being promoted, we need to bring our children to Christ. Train them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Yes, it will require going against the world's high tide and fierce current of rejection and opposition, but, the souls of our children are more important than acceptance from a world who says one thing and does another. A world who has decided that Jesus is not needed, a world that says, eat drink, be merry and die happy because it is the end and you only get one life.
The truth of the matter is that we all will live again. Either in heaven with God or in hell apart from Hell. There is no in between place. Either we are save are not. BOTTOM LINE! No fence to straddle. Either we are with God or against from God.
Parents, bring your children to Jesus. Teach them his commands and you yourself lead by example.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go;and when he is old, he will not depart from it? Will they stray? Possibly! But, if the seed is planed while they are yet young, the will come back.
Parents, do your part in planting the seed and God will do the rest. One water, one plant and God gives the increase.
Children are the greatest treasure even given to mankind. What are you doing with the treasure that has been given unto you?
We only get one chance to raise our children. Start while they are young by bringing them to Jesus. Make the Lord our God known unto them. NOW IS THE TIME!!
