Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonderful works in Your name?’ 23 But then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice evil.
In this text, jesus is addressing the Jewish people about false prophets. Those who were then calling Him Lord but would later reject His death on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for their sins by faith.
As with those in Jesus day, there are many false teachers today. Many today, call Jesus Lord with their lips but their hearts are far from Him. Their call is for "self gain" only.
Many believed then and still today believe today that Jesus is good enough to be called "Lord" but not good enough to be their "Savior" because of their belief that they have a part in their salvation through works and traditions, which kept them from truly believing that Jesus is God's Son who was sent from heaven to die on the cross and shed His blood as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of humanity.
Instead of trusting and believing God by faith, it was and still is today, more easy to confess with mouth only through a "form of godliness" that produces no power and no evidence of being connected to God by faith in any kinda way.
We are living in a day and time where the name "God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit" are on just about ever lips. The mention of these names are spoken by so many who truly do not reverence, honor, serve, nor obey God, but they do it to make themselves appear to be religious when they are around christians and gain what they can in the process. Yes, they know how to blend in with their mouths all the while their hearts and minds are saying and doing something else.
Jesus Himself declares in this text that "all who calls upon His name" WILL NOT enter the kingdom of heaven."
Jesus says "not everyone"! What is the point that Jesus is trying to drive home to us on today? I believe He is saying that many will call upon His name, but not all who call will enter the kingdom of heaven.
Salvation is not by works but by grace through faith alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, 9 not of works, so that no one should boast.
If the Word of God is not ruling and reigning in your heart with evidence of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit, you are wasting your time in using the name of the Lord in vain at your convenience.
There must be a true confession of faith that produces a life of obedience to the will of God, which is the Word of God if you plan on entering the Kingdom of God.
Anyone can do good works! The question is " who are you working for and what is your motive"? Who is your driving force? Self, satan or the Holy Spirit?
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 15:8-These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are from me?
Who are these peoples that Jesus says ‘prophesy, ‘casting out demons, and ‘miracles’ that were supposedly done in the name of the Lord? These are the false prophets and false teachers.
Take notice of this important response from Jesus to the work they claim to have done in His name. Let's listen: Jesus said, "I never knew you"!
"I never knew you"! You what that means right? That can only mean that these people were not born again of the Spirit of God by faith through Christ Jesus.
If Jesus declares that He ‘NEVER’ knew these people, then they never belonged to Him. They never experienced a personal relationship with the Father through Him. Jesus and the Father is one.
John 6:37-All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
What is the will of the Father? Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
What is the will of the Father? Romans 12:1-2 I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
John 14:15-"If you love me, obey my commandments.
What will be Jesus's response to you? Remember, all will not enter! Do not let that person be you!
Romans 1:17-For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.
ALL WILL NOT ENTER!!!
