This text is an invitation to a call to Discipleship. A call of salvation tothe ONLY place where rest for our weary souls can be found. A call to faith in Christ Jesus. A call to belief in God's atoning work at Calvary on your behalf as FULL PAYMENT for your sins.
A call to the people of God to a life of "commitment" to continue to follow Christ in spite of the daily test and struggles.
To all of you who are burdened and weary, God calls you to rest. To those of you who are trying to figure out life and do life on your own apart from God and are finding yourselves not making any progress within and of yourself, the call is for you too.
Tired of your life spinning wheels in the same circle over and over again without any progress? God is calling you to find rest in Him.
The promise from God to you on today is that if you come to Him you WILL find "REST". Not the world's rest that last for a little while and they you find yourselves burden down and heavy laden again. No! God's rest is everlasting for He Himself is the rest that He is calling us to.
As the Lord God spoke to Apostle Paul, who was burden about a thorn in the flesh, He speaks to all of us on today with these profound words that are found in 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
To all those who are weary and burdened, here is what God is offering you on today. (1) an invitation to come unto Him. (2) A promise to give you rest.
Today, a way of "escape" has been made for the weary and burden down soul of man. That way is Christ Jesus. Yes, Jesus Himself declares these words in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me.
Because a way of "escape" has been made available to you, there is no more excuse for you. You can either continue on in your own path of life or choose the road of guaranteed "REST" in Christ Jesus alone.
What are you going to do with the "invitation" that God has made available to you on today? Will you come and find rest or will you continue on as the donkey does daily and carry one heavy load after another?
The choice is yours now for you have been told that you have a way out that God has made available to you.
The greatest invitation is being made on today. Will you come to Jesus and give your burdens to Him or will you continue to carry your own?
The invitation today is "COME" and find rest.
