Galatians 6:10- Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
The call to believers is to take advantage of every opportunity to do good and be helpful to all people, but especially to those who are of the household of faith (Christians), your brothers and sisters in Christ.
As the people of God, we have a responsibility to one another. Not to supply one another need because God promises to do that for us and He does it through humanity in the earth. God works through us to help others!
Kindness to others is kindness to Christ. Jesus Himself declares in Matthew 25:40 The King will answer, ‘Truly I say to you, as you have done it for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you have done it for Me. Today we have many opportunities to help.
There are widows and orphans around the world, missionaries, evangelist and preachers who travel the world to preach and teach the Gospel far and near, there is the poor and needy in our communities and our churches, there are single parents, mothers and fathers with children that are struggling, the homeless, local food banks etc. that are in need of help.
There is always an opportunity to lend a helping hand in time of need to someone. Take a look at your surroundings and around the world and you will clearly see it.
The question to be answered by ALL of us is are you willing to help where there is a need?
Our opportunity to help does not always have to be financial for we can assist spiritually in praying and comforting others through the Word of God, spending time with the elderly in nursing homes, visiting the sick, etc.
When the opportunity presents itself to us are we remembering the poor and less fortunate that are among us that we know are in need of our assistance? We should, especially if it is another Christian brother or sister.
The Apostle James asked this question in James 2:14-16 My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don’t do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you? 15 If you know someone who doesn’t have any clothes or food, 16 you shouldn’t just say, “I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat.” What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? 17 Faith that doesn’t lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead!
1 John 3:17-If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
Believe it or not but the blessing is not in receiving, it is in giving. Scripture declares that God so loved the world that He GAVE His only Begotten Son. God gave and we yet are benefiting even today.
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Proverbs 11:24 - Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. As the saints of old used to say "a sting man has a hole in his or her pocket".
Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.
As the people of God, let us grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God's Word so that we may be able to carry out the good, helpful and useful thing that is needed to help others when the opportunity present itself to us.
Remember, the scripture says to be good to ALL when the opportunity presents itself, and especially to those Christian brothers and sisters that are in need.
Everything we possess is for earthly use. Nothing we bring into this world and nothing we will take with us. Naked we came out of our mother's womb and naked will we return.
I am not saying to frivolously throw away in any direction that which God has given to you at any and everything, but what I am saying is if the opportunity presents itself to you to be of assistance to someone in need then do it.
Jesus went about doing good to all when the opportunity presented itself. He even went out the way to help those that he knew needed Him but did not seek Him out. The woman at the well is an example of this.
We can talk faith all day long but faith is an action word and faith without works is dead.
Learning to live a Spirit-led life depends on learning to think spiritually. Thinking spiritually means learning to bring what you want for you in line with what God wants for you.
Let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus.
If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives it freely to all who ask.
Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
Romans 112:2-Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
The seeds we sow determines the harvest we reap. We sow nothing, we reap nothing. We sow bountifully, we reap bountifully. We sow sparingly, we reap sparingly.
People of God, start fresh and new today in your mind through scripture in how you view circumstances and situations of need that are presented to you via the Holy Spirit and act according to the will of God by serving the need.
Be not only hears of the word but also doers by taking advantage of the opportunity to do good when the opportunity presents itself to you.
