Matthew 24:44-Therefore you also must be ready, for in an hour when you least expect, the Son of Man is coming.
Making preparations to one day meet Jesus! Is this a part of your daily planning? You do know that we are not here to stay, right?
Everyday of our lives we are making plans to do this or that for our now, today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, etc.
Life is full of time spent planning. We plan and prepare on a daily basis for just about everything imaginable.
We plan for vacations, we plan for work, we plan for our future, we plan for our children college, we plan for retirement, family, purchases, daily activities in home and outside of the home, we plan for dinner and lunch dates, we plan meetings, we plan to shop, we plan, plan and plan.
A few weeks ago, the virgin and caribbean Islands, Florida, Texas, South Carolina and all along the east and west coast, etc were all planning for the hurricanes.
As we looked at the different news feeds, we see people buying supplies, gas, generators, food and water in preparation of the coming storms.
The same applies to us spiritually! We MUST prepare to one day meet Jesus face to face. If not, we won't be ready to spend eternity with Him, but we will be ready to spend eternity separated from Him.
Have you ever thought about the fact that it is also of a necessity to plan for your future in eternity for our stay here on earth is temporary and not our eternal home.
To plan for eternity is not an option! WE ALL MUST DO IT! Our eternal destination depends upon our planning for it NOW!
Yes, there will one day be a face to face, individual meeting for everyone of us with Christ. We ALL will give an account of the lives we live, be it good or evil.
In knowing that we will one day meet Christ, planning for that day should always be at the forefront of our minds.
Life on earth is short!
The Apostle James gives us a description of the brevity of man's life in James 4:14-whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? It is just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
Are you preparing to one day meet Jesus? This is an appointment none of us will be able to cancel, reschedule nor avoid.
We are given a warning to be ready for Christ will one day come back at an unexpected time. He will come as a thief in the night and His coming will be without warning, therefore we MUST always be ready.
When will Christ return? NO ONE KNOWS! But, we do know that He will! We are warned in this text to be 'READY" for in an hour in which we do not expect Him, He will appear.
The hurricanes and storms came in an hour which none of us expected. It came suddenly and without much warning. None of us could have predicted or pinpoint the exact effects of it's brutal downfall and the lasting and painful results of them. But, the people were able to prepare to some degree.
I want to remind you of what the Word of God says concerning our preparedness for Christ.
We must live each day of our lives as if it is our last. We do know know when our last breath will be taken!
Matthew 24:27-For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:36- But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
When shall the son of man appear to gather up His elect from the north, south east and west? We do not know!
The driving home point on today is to "WATCH, PRAY AND BE READY" for Christ WILL return.
Not everyone will go back with Christ when He returns! Everyone who cries Lord, Lord will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. Only those who have done the will of the Father.
Those who are preparing and waiting with expectation WILL NOT be disappointed. Romans 5:5- And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Making preparations? Which ones are you making? Earthly or eternal preparation?
Are you preparing to one day stand before Jesus at your GUARANTEED appointment with Him?
Making preparation? Is Jesus included in your planning?
