Revelation 3:20 Behold! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.
Behold="ide" in the greek and it means to look, to see.
When God says "behold" in this text, He is saying "look, see" that there is something I want you to pay attention to.
What is God wanting this church at Laodicea and the world today to pay attention to in this text? He wants us to pay attention to the fact that He is standing at the door of our hearts knocking.
This text before is a part of the letter that John had written to the church of Laodicea that is described as a lukewarm church. They are neither hot or cold, just lukewarm and because they chose not to be either hot or cold, God declares that He will "spew them out of His mouth."
Doors are everywhere. We find them at the entrance buildings, our homes and all rooms in our homes, we see them at our work places, our places of worship, places we shop, eat, service our cars, entertain, buy, sell, trade, etc. All entrance doors have to be opened, regardless of where we go.
Doors are opened either automatically or manually with our hands, body, etc., but they have to be open in order for us to enter therein.
There is also a door to our heart that must be opened also. We know this to be true because in this text, we are reminded that God is standing at the door of our hearts and is knocking in hopes that we would open up the door and let Him in for when we do, He will come in and commune with us.
Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts in hope of saving us from the penalty of sin and death. That was His purpose for leaving heaven and coming to earth to shed His blood and die.
For some of you, Jesus has been knocking at the door of your hearts for a long time is still knocking. He has not quit knocking at the door of your heart for it is His will that you do not perish, but that you come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The door to salvation has to be opened by us so Christ can enter into our hearts. If the door of our hearts (mind) remains shut, we will not only miss out on the blessings of God now in our lives, but we will also be forever lost and separated from God throughout eternity.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The clock of all of our lives are ticking. Everyday we are a day older. Jesus is knocking!
Can you hear Jesus knocking and calling out your name? Yes, Jesus is at the door of your heart and He is calling out your name! Have you opened the door of your heart to Him?
God has been knocking at the door of many of your hearts for a long time and you have yet to answer.
Jesus is knocking and it is time for you to open the door of your heart to Him. He just want to love and bless you. Why won't you open the door of your heart to Him?
The bible declares that there will be a 2nd coming. Yes, Christ is coming again, but the difference this time is that He will not come as "Savior of the World" but He will come as "Judge" and He will gather up all those that belongs to Him from the north, south, east and west and those that do not belong to Him will be left behind in a world where all of God's people will be gone.
Revelation 1:7 Look! He is coming with the clouds. Everyone will see him, even the ones who stuck a sword through him. All people on earth will weep because of him. Yes, it will happen! Amen.
If you think the world in which we now live is chaotic, crazy and unstable, omagine living in a world where there are no Christians? Well, this is what the world would be like when Christ returns to take away His people. The world will be left in a state of chaos with only the unsaved.
Jesus is gonna come back one day to gather up His people.
John 14:2-3 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.
Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. If you are not making preparation right now to one day meet Christ, you will NOT go back with Him when He return.
I believe we are closer to the door of eternity than what we realize. No one knows when their last breath will be drawn. No, none of knows what the future holds, but God.
The heat breaking news today is that Jesus is knocking at the door of hearts all around the world and many are still not ready to meet Him and and many won't be ready to meet Him when He returns because they have never trusted Jesus by faith for the saving of their souls.
We are reminded in scripture that we must be ready if we want to spend eternity with Christ.
Let's listen to Matthew 24:44 Therefore you also must be ready, for in an hour when you least expect, the Son of Man is coming.
Today is the day to answer the knock at the door of your heart for if you don't, you WILL be left behind when Christ returns.
NO MORE EXCUSES! You have not only been told the truth, but you have been informed that you have an option to open the door of your heart or allow it to remain closed.
Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. What are you gonna do about it? Will you open it or allow it to remain closed?
To choose to open the door of our hearts of leave them close is our choice. To spend eternity with God or apart from Him is our choice too.
Which will it be for you on today? An open door for Christ to enter in and commune with you or a closed door that will keep Him shut out of your heart and keep you shut out of eternity forever?
Which have you chosen? I urge, beg and plea with you to open up the door of your heart to Christ on today.
Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart and has been for a long time. Can you hear Him knocking?
