Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your waist girded with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 having your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace, 16 and above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
19 Pray for me, that the power to speak may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.
This text is the Apostle Paul's instructions for Spiritual Warfare that the believers are guaranteed to encounter in these perilous times and evil days in which we now live. They are schemes of evil and not of good that can only be seen with spiritual eyes and not with the natural eyes.
As Christians "Soldiers" we are brothers and sisters in God's army who MUST fight along side each other against spiritual warfare, united as one body in Christ.
There is a battle raging in the spiritual realm. It is a battle against good and evil in the hearts and mind of people everywhere that is only seen in the spirit.
Our fight is not against flesh and blood. We are reminded of this in vs#12 We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.
People of God, we MUST help our fellow Christian "Soldiers". Am I my brothers keeper? Yes!
No, we do not leave our wounded brothers and sisters on the battlefield alone, but instead, we help get them to safety. We encourage and support one another for we are not fighting this spiritual battle alone. We are one with each other and one with God.
In order to successfully fight this battle, we need to make sure we are equipped for fighting with the proper gear.
We are given full instructions in this text on how to daily dress ourselves in preparation for spiritual warfare which we WILL encounter on a daily basis in one way or another.
The Apostle Paul reminds us how to be fully prepared to live the victorious life through Christ Jesus as people of God. We do this by daily putting on our protective gear called the "WHOLE ARMOR" of God.
People of God, it is time to get dressed! With what? Glad you asked. Let's take a look of at the proper attire we are required to wear according to scripture.
As the Lord's "Soldiers", He is our Commander in Chief and He alone tells us what attire is appropriate for His "Soldiers" on and off the battlefield.
Fighting spiritual battles requires us to be grounded in the Word of God and prayer for it is there where preparation for the battlefield begins.
In order for us to prepare for battle, "FAITH" in God MUST be activated based on God's Word of faith, righteousness and salvation that He has imputed unto us at our time of salvation.
People of God, we must take God's faith in His Word that He has given us and use it to help us prepare for unexpected warfare and unexpected mental attacks.
Once we have daily prepared ourselves through prayer and the Word of God, we can now get armored up with our protective war gear before leaving the house everyday.
The Christian "Soldier" war clothes: There are 6 pieces of protective gear.
(1) The “Belt of Truth”. Without the truth of God's Word, (Jesus) you are guaranteed defeated. Jesus declares in John 14:6-I am the way, the truth and the life. Without God's truth, we are a sitting target awaiting danger from the enemy. It is the truth of God's Word that sustains and keeps us, even in the midst of battle.
(2) The “Breastplate of Righteousness” - The breastplate of righteousness protects our heart. This righteousness is of Christ and not of ourselves. He imputes His righteousness upon all who believe.
(3) The “Shield of Faith” - The shield of faith is our trust in the promises of Jesus. When we keep our focus on Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, we are able to rebuke, reject and deny the lies, false accusations, doubts and temptations from satan that comes to attack us in the mind.
(4)The “Helmet of Salvation” - The helmet of salvation protects the brain. The helmet is vital because it helps the head from being damaged and contaminated from the lies of satan. If we do not use our helmet, the head is damaged in battle and the rest of the armor is of no benefit to us. The helmet of salvation is our confidence and assurance of our salvation through Christ Jesus.
(5)The “Shoes of the Gospel” - The shoes of the Gospel represent the readiness given by the Gospel. It’s important to understand the truth about Jesus through meditation and study of His Word so that we may be able to explain it to others in hope of winning them to Christ. The shoes of the Gospel helps us remain standing even after some of the worst attacks from the enemy.
(6) The “Sword of the Spirit” - The sword of the spirit is the Word of God and our only weapon of attack. The Word of God enable us to stand our ground against evil.
People of God, let 2018 be the year that you purpose in your heart that you WILL NOT leave home any longer unprotected.
People of God it's time to get dressed! Are you prepared? If not, you are guaranteed defeat!
The Hour has come to seek the Lord!
Our eternal destination depends upon our relationship with or without Christ. We alone will determine rather we live or die on the battlefield by your decision to either accept or reject God's required equipment for a guaranteed victory over the enemy.
