Psalm 122:1 - I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
GLAD=chairó in the greek and it means to rejoice, be glad.
The writer of the text describes his feelings as "glad" or happy when the invitation is given to go to the Lord's house.
What rings out in your heart when the thought, opportunity or invitation is presented to you to go to the Lord's house? Is it a feeling of gladness and joy? If you are a child of God it should.
The first thing that we need to know about coming to church is that it is personal .
Are you glad when it's time to go to the house of God to praise and worship the Lord your God at His house?
Coming together to worship God reminds us that He is at work in all of our lives, in our families, communities, marriages, workplaces and most of all in the universe, even if we live in a day and time when it does not appear that, but He is.
Hearing the words "House of the Lord" should stir up the spirit of God that is on the inside of us because it is a time for the people of God to truly show our love and worship to our God as a collective body of believers in unity.
The House of God is the most important place to be for a Christian. Yes, it's more than a building, drums, guitars, pianos, organs, stained glass windows and singing of hymns. It is a place where we gather to meet God for a personal encounter and a place where we as God's people gather together to fellowship collectively as His people in His House.
God’s house is where we find instruction for life and living as people of God. It is also a place where we receive prayer, healing and most of all, "spiritual food" to sustain us from the man or woman of God who watches over our souls as God's Shepherd in the earth.
There are many blessings in the Lord's house. Salvation, deliverance, worship, hope, prayer and the presence of God just to name a few.
It is the preaching of the Gospel that God uses to save the souls of men.
I Corinthians 1:21 - For since the world through all its [earthly] wisdom failed to recognize God, God in His wisdom was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached [regarding salvation] to save those who believe [in Christ and welcome Him as Savior].
Romans 10:14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
When we gladly enter the Lord's house with an open heart and mind that is ready and willing to serve, praise and worship the Lord our God with a right attitude, miracles can happen.
Psalm 84:4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
Are you glad?
