Psalm 61:1-3 Hear my cry, O God, attend to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You; when my heart faints, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For You have been a refuge for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Is this your cry unto the Lord? This was David's painful cry in his time of turmoil and trouble.
David son Absalom had turned against his own father in rebellion. Absalom had temporarily taken over David's throne.
David had found himself in a deep valley of pain and he knew what to do. He went to God and cried out to Him in prayer.
The good news in the midst of David's pain and suffering is that David knew that God was always a prayer away.
People of God, regardless of what you go through or may be going through right now, regardless of how far you may have strayed away or even fallen away from the Lord your God, regardless of the severity of the struggle or the pain, the Lord your God is always a prayer away. He is your FIRM FOUNDATION, your SOLID "ROCK"!
Life has a way of throwing wrenches in our plans and thoughts. It has a way of bringing unexpected circumstances and situations that can cause great pain and damage to the hearts and minds of God's people, but even in the midst of them, we have hope.
People of God, whatever your situation may be on today, whatever pain you may be experiencing, either at the hands of self or others, there is a "ROCK" higher than our circumstances.
David's prayer is that when his heart is overwhelmed that God would lead Him to the "ROCK" that is higher than him. David knew that on the top of the "Rock" is a Fortress, who is the Lord God.
If you read this text in it's entirety, you will see where David begins with a prayer of tears and a broken and painful heart, but, he ends it with praise.
Do you need to be lifted up in your spirit on today? Has the struggles and cares of this world burdened you down? There is an answer to your pain and suffering called "Jesus, The Rock"!
Pray, cry out to God to lead you to the Rock that is your hiding place from the physical enemy and the enemy of your mind. That place of strength and glory in His presence.
Lead me to the Rock, lead me to the Rock. Is this your cry to the Lord too?
God is indeed your firm foundation, your salvation and your Solid Rock.
David declares that God has been a refuge for him, and a strong tower from the enemy. David knew that God changes not. He had seen God's hands move on his behalf in battle many times before.
My Solid Rock!, my Solid Rock! Say this to yourself over and over again people of God and you will feel the presence of God's Holy Spirit right there with you.
The name of the Lord IS a "Strong Tower". Run to Him! He is the Rock of your salvation, the "Stone that the builders rejected, the Chief Corner Stone.
Yes, Jesus is that Rock! Pray to Him today people of God that He would lead you to the "Rock" that is higher than you.
Jesus is our firm foundation, our Salvation, our "Solid Rock"!
