Psalm 86:12 I will give You thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forever.
This text is a part of David's prayer to the Lord.
PRAYER=proseuchomai in the greek and it means to pray. I pray, pray for, offer prayer.
Prayer is a conversation with God. Communication and dialogue between God and you. We speak and we listen for Him to speak back to us.
When we pray, we must listen for God to speak back to us. This is why it is not always good to just jump up after praying. Be still and wait to hear from God. Sometimes God answers us while we are praying and other times He doesn't right then, but keep a listening ear because He just may at that moment.
Yes, the Creator of the Universe, the Lord our God, wants to speak to us too.
In this text, the Psalmist David declares that He would give thanks to the Lord his God with his whole heart.
In other words, David was declaring that he would not allow anything to distract him from prayer and praise to the Lord His God. He will continue to pray and glorify God, giving God His all and withhold nothing.
Once we come into the knowledge and truth as to who our God is, what He has done on our behalf to to take away the penalty of sin and death from us through His Son Jesus, that's enought right there for us to proclaim David's prayer as our own when He said "He will give thanks and glory to the Lord with his whole heart forever".
People of God, If anything that can and should make us pray and praise God, it is the knowledge that the Lord is our God and worthy of our praise, glory and honor.
David's prayer is for a devoted heart to the Lord his God. Is this your prayer too? Is it your desire to please the Lord your God in all your ways?
God is trustworthy and faithful! He can be trusted to do what He alone can do on our behalf. He is the Sovereign God of the universe!
If we choose to acknowledge it or not, We need God's mercy. This cannot be said enough because we so easily forget that we need God’s mercy when all is going well in our lives, but keep living because the storms of life IS coming your way too and yes, you too will need God's mercy.
Have you moved to a place in your mind of not only praising the Lord your God, but glorifying Him also?
David said "forever" I will glorify your name. Is this your prayer unto the Lord also? Have you committed in your heart and mind that glorifying the Lord your God is not an option for you, but of necessity?
Can we make "glorifying" the Lord our God forever our own claim on today?
I WILL GLORIFY YOUR NAME LORD FOREVER!
