Matthew 21:1-11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.
Palm Sunday was days before the crucifixion of Jesus and the Sunday before His resurrection. Yes, the day that MY Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ made His final triumphant entry into Jerusalem as King.
In preparation for His ride through Jerusalem, He sent His disciples to borrow a colt that no one ever rode on before.
Jesus specifically told His disciples "if anyone say anything to you, tell them that the Lord has need of it and they will free the colt to go".
As I pondered this sentence about the finding of the colt by the Disciples and the releasing of the colt by the owner to give to Jesus, my mind reflected on God, who also had need of His Son to leave eternity and come to earth to make atonement for a sinner like me. I thought about How God released His Son Jesus to suffer and die on an old Ruggard cross on a hill far away called "Golgotha", Calvary Hill to shed His blood for MY sins.
Oh Lord! Merciful Savior, Redeemer and friend was sent to rescue the souls of man because we have hopelessly lost our way.
You are the one we praise Lord. You are the one we adore Lord!
Father, You alone are the One our hearts and hunger thirst. You alone has the healing we desperately stand in need of.
Thank You Lord!
On Palm Sunday the crowd shouted "Hosanna in the highest heaven. But, a few days later, they shouted "CRUCIFY HIM, CRUCIFY HIM"!
Oh, the price our Savior paid just to show His love for sinners like me who are so undeserving.
Thank You Jesus!
