1 Peter 4:4 - They are surprised that you do not join them in the same excess of wild living, and so they speak evil of you.
Peer pressure is everywhere. It is among adults as well as young people, but, it is extremely prevalent among our young people.
What is peer pressure? Influence from members of one's peer group.
These 2 words called peer pressure hits the fear button in every parent and every family.
There are 2 kinds of peer pressure. There is positive and negative. The difference between the 2 is the outcome. One helps and the other hurts.
The majority of the time peer pressure is not done with good intent, but with the intent of rebellion and disobedience against authority.
Peer pressure! Do you know that you have the right to say "NO" to peer pressure? You do not have to go along to get along!
Young people, are you being pressured or forced by your peers to act a certain way or to do a certain thing that you do not want to do to just fit in or be accepted by those who truly do not have your best interest at hand?
The honest truth is that your relationship with them, the consequences and the pain you will experience from negative peer pressure is not worth the sacrifice you will make nor the consequences you will suffer from it in the end.
Young people, be not surprised that you are being spoken evil of because you have made up in your mind that for God you will now live against the currents of the world and negative peer pressure?
Rejected and persecuted by those who once claimed to be in your inner circle? Rejoice! for your reward is great in heaven. No man can serve two master!
The call today young people is to take a stand against negative peer pressure and to know that it is ok to be who you are and not have to participate with anything for acceptance.
1 Peter 4:12-19 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
The point I want you to get on today is negative peer pressure produces negative thoughts, negative words, negative attitude, negative actions and regretful results.
Negative peer pressures is what it says; negative peer pressure. Nothing good comes from it. It hurts and tears you down mentally, emotionally, spiritually and eventually financially if you are an adult.
What is your goal? To please man or to please God? it is better to listen to God through His Word and your parents than to listen to the voice of the evil one.
Young people have you purposed in your heart to take a stand against negative peer pressure and because you have you are being spoken evil because of it? That's good because God is showing you that they were not your friend in the first place.
My hope and prayer for you young people on today is that you will seek out your parents, counselor or a spiritual leader for godly counsel so that they may help you in ridding yourself of the need to feel to fit in with the crowd whose goal is not to positively motivate and encourage you, but to tear you down.
Proverbs 1:10-15 warns us against giving into negative peer pressure by unbelievers. Vs #15 says- my son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path.
In other words, do not do what the world do. The worlds says go along to get along, but God says do not conform to the world. Renew your mind through the word of God.
Young people, as God’s children you have the power in you to stand up against negative peer pressure!! The word of God is in you. It has been taught to you by your parents, Sunday School Teachers and your Pastor. You must use it when negative peer pressure raises it’s ugly head.
Young people, take a stand today against negative peer pressure. You can do this!
When trouble comes, you will see who is there for you. I promise you it won't be those friends. No, they will still be speaking evil about you and laughing and talking about you. It will be your parents or family members who will be there for you.
Young people, heed the call on today to reject and avoid the snares and traps of negative peer pressure.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 - Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor Him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life is not pleasant anymore."
Being pressured in a negative way on today? Seek an adult to help you. Yes, help is available to you on today.
Ephesians 6:1 - Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.
Suffering from negative peer pressure? Help is available to you on today. Take advantage of it and GET OUT of that circle!
