Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Throughout scripture we are warned about "false teachers".
As God's people we need to be able to recognize through scripture and discernment of the Holy Spirit what is truth and what is not so that we may avoid the trap of traveling down a road that God did not intend for us to travel with false "teachers and false prophets" who have been sent out into the world by the adversary to deceive many, including you and I.
People of God do not be deceived by what you hear! Be not ignorant for there WILL BE false teachers among you.
2 Peter 2:1 False prophets were among God’s people in the past, as false teachers will be among you. They will secretly bring in their own destructive teachings. They will deny the Lord, who has bought them, and they will bring themselves swift destruction.
Jesus said everyone is known by the fruit they bear.
Not sure how to inspect the fruit of what you are hearing? The Word of God and the Holy Spirit of God will give you discernment to help you determine if what you are hearing is from God or satan. The Word of God and Holy Spirit are your fruit inspector tools. USE THEM!!!!
False teachers (prophets) are dangerous because outwardly they appear to be genuine, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves who are deceivers that present themselves as sheep among God's people.
False (prophets, teachers) presented a problem in the early church and they are as prevalent today in spreading lies, confusion, disagreement and division as they were and have done in the past and are still continuing to wreck havoc in the relationships even among believers.
The Apostle Paul had addressed the church at Galatia for embracing the lies of false teachers who had crept into the church after his departure and he addressed the false teachers who had turned some of the believers of that church away from God's truth to belief in their lying propaganda.
Let's listen to Apostle Paul in Galatians 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
False teachers have crept in every place where the believers are and they have done it without being notice.
False (prophets, teachers) prophesy lies to itching ears and they say what the people want to hear.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine, but they will gather to themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, having itching ears, 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to myths.
People of God let the Spirit of God lead you. Galatians 5:16 If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires.
The good news about false teachers is the fact that they can be identified in the spiritual realm. God, through His Spirit will reveal them to you!
One way we identify "false prophets or teachers" as I stated above is by their fruit. They do not speak from the command of God, but the desires of their flesh. We are not to be judes of people, but we are fruit inspectors as believers. God has provided us with the necessary tools to determine if a fruit is good or rotten. CHECK YOUR BIBLES!
Another way to identify "false teachers or prophets" is to listen to the doctrine they are teaching and take a good look at the life they live. Is what they saying and teaching lining up with what God says in His Word? Is there evidence in their life living of God's fruit?
The goal of "false teachers or prophets" is to distract us from obeying the truth of God's Word which has the power unto salvation for you and I.
People of God, test the spirit of those who teach among you. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
I want to leave you all with this reminder that Jesus gave in scripture concerning "false teachers or prophets" and their deceiving spirits in Matthew 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.
People of God, we are not exempt from satan's temptation to be lead astray by false doctrine so that is why we must continue in daily study and meditation of God's Word, prayer and obedience to God's leading so that we ourselves may not be deceived by what sounds like truth and in reality is a lie from satan.
People of God who are you following? Who's report will you believe?
Jesus says this concerning those that follow Him in John 10:27-28 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.
People of God, be not deceived by false teachers. Search the scriptures and pray for discernment if you desire to live for God according to God's truth.
Lord, show us your way so we can daily walk and talk with you as you lead and guide us on the path for righteousness for your name sake.
Thank You Lord for guiding our life through your Word of Truth this day and everyday.
We love You Lord!
