Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith which works through love.
In this text the Apostle Paul wrote these strong words to the church at Galatia to refute the Judaizers false Gospel that circumcision (works) and grace are the means in which salvation is obtained. In other words, salvation is not apart from works. Something else has to be added to "GRACE".
There is no works or anything else we humans can do to save ourselves. Jesus is our only choice where salvation is concerned. There is no other!
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
Paul was disturbed by the fact that the Galatian church whom he originally taught the truth of the Gospel has now allowed themselves to again be tangled with the yoke of bondage that salvation was not by grace alone but also by works (circumcision). This is what the false teachers who had crept into the church at Galatia after Paul's departure were teaching the people of God.
Everything needed to be done to atone for our sins was done at the cross once and for all. Faith in God's atoning work of "GRACE" on our behalf at the cross is what is required of us and nothing else.
Paul's rebuke to the church at Galatia is found in Galatians 3:1-6 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.
2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law,or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?
4 Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, 9 not of works, so that no one should boast.
Regardless of the Judaizers theory of salvation by works (circumcision) added to grace, the truth of the matter is that in Christ circumcision or uncircumcision of the flesh means nothing. Faith expressed through Love is all that matters.
God is more concerned about the circumcision of our hearts and not our flesh.
1 Corinthians 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
It is because of God's "LOVE" for us that He put on flesh, came and dwelt among us and shed His blood on the cross for the sins of humanity.
If I have not love, I am nothing. If I give all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.
The Apostle Paul's driving home point back then and my driving home point to all of you on today is this: The true mark of genuine faith is not adherence to a set of rules or rituals, it's "LOVE"!
The Word of God or the words of tradition from false teachers? Which have you chosen to adhere to?
Jesus declares these words in John 14:28 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him. The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
People of God the warning that is being sent out to you today is that you do not allow yourselves to be persuaded into thinking that works is the road you should take for the saving of your soul for this is not a divine persuasion. It is of the adversary, the devil and his workers.
Our faith is revealed through our works, but, we are not saved by works. We work because we are saved.
We can talk faith all day long but if it is not expressed through "LOVE" it means nothing in the sight of God.
Faith expressed through "LOVE" is what matters to God. CHEW ON THIS TODAY!
