Psalm 116:2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
INCLINED= "klinó" in the greek and means to cause to bend.
PRAYER="proseuchomai" in the greek and is defined as to pray.
The key word in this text is "HAS' for it speaks of something that has already been done before.
The writer of this text is speaking with confidence based on his past experience with God for he says God (has) inclined His ear to him and because He has, the psalmist will "call" upon the Lord his God until he die. WOW!
Has is past tense, which tells me that the author has some history or experience with God being a God of answered prayers.
After proclaiming God to be a prayer answering God, the psalmist in verse #3-6 of this same text describes for us, his testimony of how God helped him in the past and with confidence now, he knows that God is the same God who is able to answer again as he did before on his behalf.
THE PSALMIST CONDITION PRIOR TO PRAYING: vs#3-4 The cords of death encircled me, and the pains of Sheol took hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then called I upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I plead with You, deliver my soul.”
THE PSALMIST RESPONSE TO GOD'S ANSWERED PRAYER: vs# 5-6 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; indeed, our God is merciful. 6 The Lord protects the simple; I was brought low, and He helped me.
Because the Lord my God listens and hears my voice when I pray I will call upon Him all the days of my life.
Is this your testimony of confidence concerning the Lord your God on your behalf?
Throughout scripture we can find where God promises to not only hear our prayers, but to answer them also.
Where is your confidence on this morning? In whom have you placed your faith, hope and trust? Is it your family, your children, your job, your economic status, your possessions, your position or status in society, your spouse your money? Where is it?
Where does your confidence live? Is it in the Lord your God is the question to be answered by ALL of us on today?
In whom or what are we trusting? in whom or what hands have we placed our life and future destination?
It is the Lord our God who makes these unbreakable promises to the people of God if we pray. I will name a few of these promises.
The promises of God is for the people of God! Are you a child of God? Well, these promises written in God's Word are your to declare in your life.
Psalm 34:17-The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
Psalm 145:18-The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
Isaiah 65:24 I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!
Mark 11:24- Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them.
Have you been praying to the Lord you God and because He has yet to answer you doubt and unbelief have been ruling your thoughts?
Any thoughts that exalt itself above the word of God MUST be rejected and rebuked. They are all lies from satan and he can not be trusted about anything he says to you.
Rebuke those lies of satan and trust God to do just what He says concerning you in His word. HE WILL ANSWER YOU in His timing!
This text is a "DECLARATION" of the believers faith. What are you declaring out of your mouth concerning your prayers and supplication to the Father?
People of God, we can rest assured in the "FAITHFULNESS" of our God.
People of God, when we pray without ceasing in confidence and expectation God WILL hear and answer our prayers.
Prayer of confidence in God alone! Is this where you find yourself on today people of God?
PRAY GOD'S PEOPLE!
Thank You Lord for hearing and answering our prayers in Jesus name.
Your Servant Debra
