Ephesians 5:15-17 5 See then that you walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise men, 16 making the most of the time because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
REDEEM=exagorazó in the greek and means to buy up, i.e. ransom, to rescue from loss. To buy up for one' s self, for one' s use; to make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good, so that zeal and well doing are as it were the purchase money by which we make the time our own.
How are you managing your time here on earth? What are you doing with the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years of life that God has given unto you? How are you living out the time of your life?
We ALL are either living as wise or as a fool. We are either redeeming the time we have been given here on earth or we are wasting it.
Life on earth is short lived. Even if we lived 100 or even 200 years, what are those years in comparison to eternity?
The Apostle James describes life this way in James 4:14 Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone.
In other words, we live life, we groan and then life here on earth is gone.
God has given everyone of us a mind to choose His way or to choose our own way.
Joshua 24:15 declares these profound words. If it is displeasing to you to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve, if it should be the gods your fathers served beyond the River[a] or the gods of the Amorites’ land where you are now living. Yet as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
In other words, Joshua declares that living as "wise" and not as a fool is what He himself has chosen for his household.
How are we to manage our time here on earth? Not according to our own wisdom but according to the wisdom of God that is written in His Bible.
Yes, the way we live our lives should be through the lense of God's Word and not the lense of "SELF WILL OR SELF DESIRES".
We are reminded and warned by the Apostle James and in this text, the Apostle Paul that time here on earth is not to be wasted. We are to seize every moment of the day as if it is our last for tomorrow is not promised.
Yes, tomorrow is a hope for us all but it is no guarantee for any of us, therefore, redeeming the time is not an option, it is a matter of life or death.
How are you managing your time here on earth? Do you include God in your decision making? Is Jesus a part of your daily routine wherever you go? Is the "LIGHT" of Christ shining in and through you?
Are you redeeming or wasting your time? Are you living as wise or as a fool? What decision have you come to grips with concerning your time here on earth and what to do with it?
Yes, I know we are warned in scripture to "redeem" our time, but, are we actually doing just that?
The Apostle Paul informs us of why we need to "redeem" our time here on earth. He says we must do it for the days in which we live are evil.
The Apostle Paul is not saying that the time God has created on the clock is evil, but instead he is saying that what is happening in the world of time is evil. Sin and rebellion against God is abounding greater and greater everyday because the power of evil has become the normal road for man to daily travel.
Because the days in which we live are so prevalently exposed to evil it is of of NECESSITY that we make the most of every opportunity to do the will of God as the people of God.
We are living in a "camouflage" world. A world where it is hard to tell who is who apart from God's word and His Holy Spirit of discernment. This is why we are commanded to test the spirit to make sure it is from God.
People of God, let the Word of God be the eyeglasses that you wear daily.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
4. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
How can we know if we are living as wise or as fools? The only measuring stick is the Bible. Look at how we are living and look in the word of God and see if the two match up. If not, you have your answer and if so, you still have your answer as to how you are living.
If you have not been living your life for God, today is the day to "redeem" the time. No, it is not too late for you if you are still breathing.
If eternity with Christ is your desired final destination, "redeeming" the time MUST begin with you now!
Now is the time to get our priorities in order concerning our eternal destination.
People of God, my prayer is that your time spent here on earth is for the glory of God.
Lord, help us to live our lives with eyes wide open so that we may be able to see what you see.
Lord, help us not to ignore the evil that we see in our world, but help us pray about it and to live for you in the midst of it.
Redeeming the time! How are you managing your's? As one of wisdom or as a fool?
