Psalm 120:1 - In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and He heard me.
This psalm is a song that the psalmist sang in his time of trouble. We all need to have a few songs deep down in our souls for when trouble comes, we can pull them out of the treasure of our soul and sing them unto the Lord.
In this song we are taught how we should respond to God in our times of trouble.
When there is a medical emergency we call 911 for medical help through our local EMS services and when there is a spiritual emergency we should call God's 911 number in heaven by means of prayer for spiritual help.
Trouble! It comes in all forms, therefore, we must make sure that we have coverage when there is an emergency. Medical insurance coverage for medial emergency and spiritual insurance coverage through the blood of Jesus by faith for spiritual emergencies.
In our text, the psalmist is spoke of praying in time of spiritual trouble. He is dialing heaven's 911 for God's help.
Is it God's 911 number you call when trouble comes your way? The Psalmist declares that this is the number he called in his time of distress and in doing so God heard him.
The Psalmist plea to God was deliverance of his soul from lying lips. Evil words that were spoken against him by lying lips and the deceitful tongue of his enemies.
People of God, we must do our best to guard our hearts against the lies that are said about us and the lies that are said to us by satan and those whom he deceitfully use against us.
It is something about trouble that causes us to earnestly seek the Lord in a different way than when we are not in trouble. Nobody likes trouble, but God uses trouble to draw us closer to Him.
Are you in trouble on today? What challenges are you facing? What is causing you distress? What emotions are filling your heart as you think about these situations? Are you worried and complaining? Are you seeking counsel from friends or have you dialed God's 911 prayer line and is converstation with Him?
People of God we are reminded to pray and sing in the time of trouble in James 5:13-Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
The good new on today people of God is that when trouble arises we can reflect back on those past hills, mountain, valleys, trenches, ditches, fiery furnaces and lions dens that God had already delivered us out of and know without a doubt that if he helped us then, He is the same God and He is able to help as again.
Evil done to you or against you will not prevail for it will eventually destroy itself. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Sometimes when we don't immediately see evil being punished we have a tendency to believe that God does not see or that He is not doing or gonna do anything about the situation, but i promise you, God sees and knows all things and in due season, the enemy will receive his just reward.
People of God our testimony today is that God will do it again. Yes, when we cry out to Him He promises to hear hear and answer us.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever.
People of God hope is still alive for you even in the midst of trouble because your rear view mirror gives you a picture of what hope in Jesus has done, can do and will do.
Those who hope in the Lord will not be brought to shame. God's promises are true and He will hear and answer His children.
People of God you too have an emergency 911 number called 'JESUS." USE IT!
God bless you all.
