Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
This text before us tells us that the secret weapon in fighting spiritual warfare is prayer.
Spiritual warfare is real as the devil is too. We are in a fight for our lives.
The unseen war between good and evil, right and wrong rages on daily in the mind without ceasing.
The Apostle Paul warns us that we are at war with the devil and must pray with alertness to his schemes, tricks and divisiveness.
Paul describes the battle of the mind with the enemy as that of struggling, wrestling and battling with forces of evil in high places.
1 Peter 5:8- reminds us that we have an adversary the Devil, roaming around looking for whom he can destroy.
In Ephesians 6 Apostle Paul instructs Christians on how to wage war against and win the battle of the mind called spiritual warfare.
The Apostle Paul tells us that we do battle against these forces of evil by "praying in the Spirit all the time with all kinds of prayers and requests unto God because the battle of the mind rages on.
People of God, we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that the believers weapons for spiritual warfare is not the weapons of the world. We use God's mighty weapons (prayer and the word of God) to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments in the mind.
It is the Spirit of God that helps us in our weakness. Romans 8;26-And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Praying "in the spirit" in this text does not means praying in tongues. Instead it means to offer up prayers that are inspired, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit who indwells the believer.
We are to pray at all times and are to continually make our request known unto God through prayer of petition by praying the word of God through the holy Spirit leading and we are to pray for one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Galatians 5:16-So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves.
People of God when we exit the front doors of our homes, we are to be dressed for battle in our war clothes called the full armor of God.
People of God, we must stand firm with our loins girt about with truth, and have on the breastplate of righteousness; our feet must be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, we must take up the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the wicked and we must put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
ARMOR OF GOD-Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
People of God we have been equipped in the Word of God with everything we need for spiritual warfare, therefore we do not have to become casualties in this spiritual war in which we are daily engaged.
Soldiers of the Cross keep praying, keep trusting and keep believing God for the battle has already been fought and the victory has already been won through Christ Jesus on your behalf.
The battle is not your, it belongs to God!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
