Psalm 119:67 Before I was afflicted I wandered, but now I keep Your word.
Sometimes in life sufferings and or afflictions in whichever way God allows it seems to be the only thing to not only humble us but to also get our attention and focus redirected to where God want it to be and hopefully through the suffering or affliction we have learn to consider our ways.
Afflictions are directed by God. He knows us and our every thought and intentions.
God allows the afflictions in our lives and He knows which ones to let through the gate of our lives.
The Psalmist in this text is declaring that affliction was the “rod” that was used to steer him back to obedience to the word of God.
The psalmist says “I went astray” which means he wandered away from God to willfully sin and do what he wanted to do.
Believe it or not, affliction is of necessity when we stray. It seems to be the only rod of correction that gets man attention. Trouble has a way of getting our minds to thinking about our actions even if it’s for a little while, it will be gotten.
Isn’t it a good thing to return to the Father and He receives you back as if you never left? This is God’s promise to you. Nobody but God can do this
The Lord God declares to you on today that when you return to Him He won’t even bring up your past for He said he will cast it in the sea of forgetfulness.
Are you currently suffering under the pain of affliction? Turn back to God in surrender of your will to His will for your life and obey His Word written in His bible and I promise you will feel the release.
How do i know that God will forgive you and wipe your slate clean? Been there and done that!
God has innumerable ways of tilling the soil of our heart through affliction so that when the suffering is over our hearts would be ready and willing to accept the 'seed (WORD OF GOD) in our hearts.
As the farmers breaks and reduce to fine particles the soil of the ground with the plow so it would be prepared to receive the seed, so it is with God. Same concept!
Biblically, the seed is the Word of God that MUST take root in our hearts with conviction and transformation of the mind.
Are you in the valley of affliction? Are you tired of the affliction because you wandered away from God? Try obedience to God!
