Matthew 22:37 - Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
The first and greatest commandment is God first! This is not an option, it's a command from God to all creation. It's God's law!
We are to love God with all our heart, mind and soul. In other words, we are to love God with all our being.
God WILL NOT be second fiddle to anything or anyone.
God made a declarative statement at the onset of the Ten Commandments when He said in Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.
The very first chapter of the bible, Genesis 1:1 "in the beginning God". This means that there was nothing or no one before Him. He is creator of all things, including you and I. Let's listen to Genesis 2:7 - Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Without God we would not exist. Acts 17:28 For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of [a]your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.
Everything that we see in what is often called “nature” is the result of God's creativity and handiwork.
Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lordhe is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
God demands from each of us to be our first love and this is shown and proven by our obedience to His commands.
To love God with all our heart is not a reference to our emotions, but to the core of your being.
To love the Lord with all your heart means that our life centers and revolves around Him. He is at the forefront of all that we think and do.
Do you love the Lord your God who is maker of heaven, earth with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind? Have you begun to understand the depth of God’s love for you?
In order to love God with our whole heart, mind and soul starts with us first accepting God's love for us. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The first commandment leaves no doubt concerning the position God wants in our lives. He demands our first allegiance.
People of God, in all you do, remember, "GOD FIRST".
In all our ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct our path.
