Colossians 3:8 If you then were raised with Christ, desire those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth. 3 For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life shall appear, then you also shall appear with Him in glory.
5 Therefore put to death the parts of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience. 7 You also once walked in these, when you lived in them. 8 But now you must also put away all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie one to another, since you have put off the old nature with its deeds, 10 and have embraced the new nature, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created it, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
12 So embrace, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, a spirit of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering. 13 Bear with one another and forgive one another. If anyone has a quarrel against anyone, even as Christ forgave you, so you must do. 14 And above all these things, embrace love, which is the bond of perfection.
15 Let the peace of God, to which also you are called in one body, rule in your hearts. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Feeding the flesh or feeding the Spirit? Which are we feeding? We all have a choice to daily feed the flesh or daily feed the spirit man. One thing of a surety is the man that we feed is the one that will grow and rule in our lives.
The call for all who claim to have become new creatures through Christ Jesus is to “put off” the old man, the man who daily desires and seek sinful pleasures and put on the new man who desires the things of God.
If you have been born again or “Redeemed” by the “Bloods of Jesus” by faith in God’s atoning work on your behalf at the cross, it is time to put away the old man and start living out your “NEW” life in Christ Jesus.
How do we begin to live out our new life in Christ by faith? It starts with a renewing of our mind. A desire for change and seeking that change through the Word of God with the daily washing of our minds with the Word of God.
Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
In washing our mind with the Word of God, obedience to the Word and following the leading of the Holy Spirit who indwelt us at the minute of salvation, the process of desiring and seeking after things above and not thing on earth should begin to be set in motion in our mind.
Are you daily desiring and seeking out the pleasure of the flesh or the transformation of the new man in Christ Jesus?
Remember, the one we feed is the one that grows and rule our lives.
Let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus.
