Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Tomorrow is not a guarantee for any man. All we could do is hope and pray that we see it.
In this text we are not being told to not prepare or plan for tomorrow but what we are being told is “do not take for granted” that tomorrow will be given to any of us.
We are reminded in this text to be very careful in our boasting about tomorrow for we do not know what a day may bring for us. Only God knows what tomorrow holds for us for He is already there.
The Apostle James reminds us of not being boastful in James 4:13-14 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Instead of boasting and bragging about tomorrow what we should say is found in James 4:15- Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.
We make our plans with hope but not assurance or guarantee because only God is able to bring forth through His mighty power and divine providence what He wills to happen, even in our lives. He is the Sovereign God of the universe.
Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
As we daily make our plans for tomorrow we MUST make sure that we seek the Lord for His wisdom, guidance, direction and most of all His WILL for our lives as we hope and pray today that tomorrow will come for us and bring forth those desired plans of ours.
Put not off today for tomorrow for no man knows what a day may bring!
Seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while he is near on today.
Tomorrow is NOT promised but we already have today so make the best of it with Jesus at the “CENTER” of it all because everything revolves around Him.
