Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
The word of God has a lot to say about work.
Work befell to mankind in the garden when Adam disobeyed God’s command concerning the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Because of the Fall of man and the curse upon creation, work is hard, painful, frustrating, and even may feel unprofitable at times, but the command from God is to work because it does produces a profit .
God uses our work as our resource to provide for us and to make it profitable to us.
Scripture declares this concerning a woman or man who chooses not to work in 2 Thessalonians 3:10b "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat."
If you are sick and unable to work, disabled or retired and no longer working this does not apply to you.
God’s words of wisdom spoken through King Solomon applies to those healthy bodies who are able to work and can work. Yes, God expects us to work for this is His way of providing the resources we need to care for ourselves, our families, the poor and the needy.
Some of you may not be working because you have not found the type of work in your field or area of work you desire to work, but, you can’t use that as an excuse for not working. There must be a starting place somewhere. Get busy working until you can find what you desire or need for it will profit you more than doing nothing for scripture says talk is cheap and it leads to poverty, but work is profitable.
Are you not more valuable than the birds of the air and the fish of the sea? Matthew 6:26-27 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Guess what? God does not bring the food to the bird’s nest. They labor for it and brings it back to the nest. We labor and brings it to our homes likewise.
Not only is the bird our motivation and example of work, look at the ant who prepares and gathers his food at the right time. The ant prioritize with great diligence.
A day of hard work can be and is profitable and indeed satisfying to our souls.
If you have a job to get up and go to work to on today, TELL GOD THANK YOU!
Remember Nehemiah and how he had been granted permission by Artaxerxes, King of Persia, to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the wall around the city that lies in ruins.
Nehemiah 4:6 b “for the people had a mind to work.” The people purposed in their hearts and mind and they were focused on the task at hand. They were determined that they WILL rebuild their city and they will not cease from their labor until the work was completed and 52 days later the entire project was done!. LOOK AT GOD!
When we have the desire to do the will of God, we will have joy in it and also enjoy the fruit of our labor.
Work is profitable and it is God means of providing for us so if you have been waiting on that right job to come along, wait no longer, get busy working for it will profit you. Talk is cheap and leads to poverty!
God will provide but He will not come and bring it to us physically for He expect us to work for it!
THE REWARD OF WORKING IS ENJOYING THE FRUIT OF YOUR LABOR WHEN YOUR WORKING DAYS ARE DONE.
Let’s listen to Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 I have seen personally what is the only beneficial and appropriate course of action for people: to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all their hard work on earth during the few days of their life which God has given them, for this is their reward.
19 To every man whom God has given wealth, and possessions, he has also given him the ability to eat from them, to receive his reward and to find enjoyment in his toil; these things are the gift of God. 20 For he does not think much about the fleeting days of his life
because God keeps him preoccupied with the joy he derives from his activity.
As my mama and grandma used to say “hard work kills no one” but laziness will leave you hungry and in poverty.
People of God, remember it is through our work that the Lord our God provides for us.
Whatever your field of work is, GET BUSY!
God’s Word declares that in ALL of our “LABOR” there is a profit.
Refusing to work until you find the right job? You will be brought to poverty! Talking about not finding a job is not profitable.
2 P’S - PROFIT OR POVERTY! These are our options! Which have you chosen?
