1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The promise of God to man is if we “confess” God is willing to forgive us of ALL our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness, which in turn will put us on the road to a right relationship with Him by faith through Christ Jesus.
Perhaps you may say “I have no sin”. Scripture declares that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and His word is not in us.” The bible says “let God be true” and EVERY man a liar.
The Lord God says “confess”. To confess means to take ownership, to admit, to agree with God that we are sinners in need of His help, to acknowledge our sin problem in honesty to self first and then tell God all about it.
The good news about WILLFUL SIN AND REBELLION against God is the fact that It does not matter how far or deep you have gone in sin, NONE OF IT is beyond' God’s grace!
Whatever your sin may be, the ones you may have committed just last night, early this morning or even before coming to this blog site, you must know without a doubt and can rest assured that God is able and willing to forgive you on today and cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness.
The promise from God of what He will do with our sins once we “confess”, forgiven and cleanse from them is found in Hebrews 8:12- And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." God’s Word declares that our sins will be remembered no more by God once we confess them. They will be cast in the sea of forgetfulness as far as the east from the west and north from the south.
God’s grace is not a vehicle or a free ticket back to our sinful behavior and lifestyles. No! When we die to self, Christ comes alive in us and the process of us being saved begins.
As we grow in the knowledge, understanding and wisdom of God’s Word our desire for willful sin against God should daily be decreasing. The goal is for us to get to a place where we hate sin.
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
After salvation there is a process called “sanctification”. This is when the process of conforming to the likeness of Christ by means of the Holy Spirit who indwelled us at the time of salvation. The process (work in us) begins at salvation and ends at death.
The promise of forgiveness is contingent upon your willingness to confess. It is with the mouth that we make our confession and with the heart that we believe.
As we daily walk in the light of God’s word by faith through the process of “sanctification” we are daily being transformed and renewed in our minds into the likeness of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
It is the process of sanctification where growth and development of our spirit man is taking place and that is why we feel the struggle and sometimes pain in the process of being renewed in our minds and transformed into the likeness of Christ. It’s that pain of dying to flesh and self will and being transformed to God’s will that is called labor pain in the process of spiritual transformation and birth. As we daily submit to the authority of God’s Word, we are daily crucifying our flesh and ALL it’s desires as we submit in obedience to God’s Word.
The blood of Christ Jesus and faith in God’s atoning work on our behalf and the power of His written word is what cleanses our conscience from the unclean, dirty works of satan to the good works of righteousness that the Lord our God had prepared for us before the foundation of the world.
