Psalm 16:8 - I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
The Psalmist David makes a declaration and a decision to always set the Lord before him even yet while he was in some type of unpleasant situation or trouble.
As so with King David, we too in the midst of life’s unpleasant and troublesome circumstances must purpose in our heart to always set our eyes on the Lord.
When trouble times shows up, and they will, what can we do to stay away from fear and become close to God again? We can do as David did and set our eyes of the Lord before us before the trouble so when it does come, we will still have a clear view of God in the midst of our sometimes painful and unpleasant situations.
We are reminded of God’s faithfulness and His ever presence with us in Psalm 16:11-You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
I am not saying to live in denial of reality, No! What I am saying is we have a choice to make and that is to either allow ourselves to be ruled by fear of what we see that is temporary or put faith and confidence in what we know God can and is able to do on our behalf.
David knew that God was the Greatest Counselor whom he had communicated with over and over again throughout his life and that he could trust God to lead and instruct Him as he listened to the directions God was giving Him as he followed Him with his whole heart.
God is a Counselor that we can trust! Do you stand in need of a Counselor that you can trust on today? Consult God for He is available 24/7.
As David experienced this confidence based on His view of God, we too can have this same confidence when we learn to continually keep God before us on our journey called life..
I shall not be shaken! What a declaration King David made here!
David had made a decision to always set the Lord in front of his eyes. Because he has made God first in his life, he shall not be shaken. He will trust God in the process of life even if it makes no sense.
What about us? Where is our focus? Where is our blessed assurance? Can we too make David’s declaration our own in saying that we too “SHALL NOT BE SHAKEN”?
The secret to peace in the midst of life’s storms is found in God alone. No, true peace and genuine confidence is not found in people, things, stuff, titles, status, relationships, etc.
People of God it’s time to trust God and place our confidence in Him with our whole heart. God is the ONLY ONE who can truly offer us strength and confidence that will enable us to persevere in ALL things.
People of God, if you draw night unto the Lord your God He will draw nigh unto you.
I have set the Lord God before me and because He is with me, I SHALL NOT be shaken!
MY EYES ARE SET ON THE LORD!
Thank You Lord for your faithfulness to your people!
Your Servant Debra
