John 9:6-7 6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva. He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away and washed, and returned seeing.
When I was growing up there was a saying that says “God works in mysterious ways with wonders to perform”.
In this text, Jesus performs the healing of a man who was blind from birth in an unusual way with mud and spit.
Having seen the blind man as He passed by Jesus took the opportunity to heal Him so that those who would witness this miracle would come to faith and believe.
Many people during the time that Jesus walked the earth did not want to believe that He was God in the flesh even after seeing Him perform one miracle after another, but, instead chose to credit Him as being a “Prophet” from God.
God in His divine, infinite wisdom knows all things and He has a purpose for all things that He does and even those things that He allows to happen in our lives.
The blind man that Jesus encountered that day had never seen the light of day and I am sure that his family never thought that he would one day be healed of his blindness and would be given sight to see them and creation around him.
Indeed, life is full with questions of how’s, why’s and what if’s. Many even today ask “why so much pain, suffering and evil in the world if there is a God?” Unfortunately, life is not exempt from suffering and Jesus came as an example to earth to not only die for the sins of humanity but to show us how to suffer through His suffering.
Every heartache, pain, sin, suffering, etc started at the fall of man in the garden.
One thing of a surety is when Jesus shows up on the scene everything changes. Even the naysayers could not doubt what Jesus had done in giving sight to this man that had been blind from birth because they knew that the man was blind from birth and now he sees.
There are many that walk and live among us who are blind. No, they are not physically blind, but they are spiritually blind. Just as Jesus healed this man from physical blindness, He is willing and able to heal you of spiritual blindness for it is because of you and I that He came to earth to die in the first place.
The greatest miracle was the opening of this man’s heart. Yes, the gaining of his physical sight was indeed a miracle, but the greatest miracle is the healing of a blind and wounded heart and soul.
When asked how his eyes were opened the blind man testified of the goodness of God through Christ Jesus with this confession “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”
Jesus is still in the miracle working business even today and He is passing by in hopes of finding a desperate soul that is tired of fighting life’s battles on their own and wants to be healed. Does this describe you? If so, cry out to Jesus right now and He will come to where you are and heal you of every sin that has plague you in the past, present and even your future if you could believe by faith that He can do this for you.
An unusual miracle performed with an uncommon prescription of medicine called ‘spit and mud” filled by the Pharmacist named Jesus! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!
Are you in need of the medicine Jesus has? Jesus is the unusual Physician who performs Miracles and is the Pharmacist who fills all your prescriptions. Wherever He goes, there is always evidence that He has been where He has been because the lame, blind, sick, and dead gave testimony of his healing and deliverance power.
Believe it or not, but even in the midst of life’s worst pains, God has a plan!
One thing we must understand about God and He reminds us of it in scripture. Let’s listen to Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
In the process of life, regardless of what we suffer or even how long we may have been suffering, we must know without a doubt that God is able to do any and all things concerning us.
To you alone Lord we give the praise for you alone are God. The one who gave sight to the blind, the God who raised the dead, we give your name the praise, glory and honor.
UNUSUAL MIRACLES BY AN UNUSUAL GOD WHO IS THE MASTER OF ALL POSSIBILITIES.
Jesus, the Miracle Worker is still alive today!
