2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
This text is a request for prayer of intercession from the Apostle Paul to the church at Thessalonica on behalf of him and his colaborers in the Gospel.
Why is it that prayer is often a last resort for many people, including those of the household of faith?
Oh how easy it seems to be in forgetting our need for God and our need to prayer to God.
Prayer is one of our primary lines of connection and communication to God’s divine assistance and His power, YET, we so easily fail to use it to connect with God, even at some of our most desperate moments.
What should we pray for? What type of prayer did Paul request and what for? As we will see with Apostle Paul prayer request in this text, our prayers must be “SPECIFIC”!
Paul wanted prayers of petitions sent to God on behalf of these things; (1) safety and security for him and his colaborers of the Gospel message; (2) prayer for the advancement of the Gospel message, that it would not only be received in the hearts of those that hear it, but also that it spread quickly; (3)pray that the Gospel message be honored among the hearers as it was with those at the church of Thessalonica.; (4) pray for their safety, protection and deliverance from evil and wicked men as they do the Lord’s work for not everyone believe.
We are reminded to always pray and not worry. Let’s listen to Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
We are also reminded to pray ye for one another. Ephesians 6;18-With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.
Why should we pray some may ask? The Apostle Paul reminds us that we do it because God is a “FAITHFUL” Protector. Yes, He is the one who WILL strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
God is true to His promises! God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
God’s faithfulness to us should always inspire us to pray first in ALL things and for ALL things.
When we trust God’s faithfulness it give us peace and stability of the mind because we know that He is true to His word and that He will come through on our behalf.
Yes, we have God support and undivided attention in all that we may face in life.
We are reminded to continue in prayer for the Lord God is a “FAITHFUL PROTECTOR” and deliverer of His people!
God’s promise is that He will always be with us so with that assurance, we can pray with confidence in knowing that God not only hears our prayers, but He is able to answer our prayers.
Today is the day to make prayer a priority in your life if you have not been doing so. Intercede on behalf of our nation and nations around the world, our leaders, the world as a whole and for the people everywhere, saved and unsaved.
If you are struggling in your faith on today, seek God for help through prayer. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.
If you are caught in willful sin and are struggling with temptations, do not go it alone, but pray to God about it constantly for He is a Faithful God and He will help you. Seek Him on today for He alone is the one who can guard you from the evil one.
Continue to pray in ALL circumstances for what God promises, He WILL deliver!
Faithful is the Lord God!
