John 20:24-29 - OH, IF YOU COULD ONLY BELIEVE

John 20:24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed;blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

If you can only believe, you will receive what you desperately stand in need of on today.

Salvation is free by faith alone in God's atoning work through Christ Jesus at Calvary.

If you could only believe, all things will be possible for you this day and everyday.

Blessed is the man who has not seen, yet believe. Does this describe you?

Have you been convinced by the Gospel that what you have read in it is true?

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

OH, IF YOU COULD ONLY BELIEVE!

God bless.

Job 14:5 All Our Days Are Numbered

Job 14:5 Our time on earth is brief; the number of our days is already decided by you.

Every man has been allotted a number of days here on earth.

Scripture declares that the number of our days on earth is already known by God and that none of us will live one minute beyond the time that God has already given each one of us.

Even if we lived to be 100 or even 200 years, what are those years in comparison to eternity.

How are you living out the days that God has numbered for you? What are you doing with your time? Are you wasting it by making unwise decisions, or is your life producing fruit that will multiply in the kingdom of God?

A fool despises wisdom and instruction. The foolish and unbelieving person thinks that life on earth is it, but many who have rejected Christ and His Gospel will be horrified after transitioning from earth to eternity realizing that they will be separated from God forever.

Have you ever given thought to these things? What is the number of your days? What will be the day of my last breath? When my last breath is drawn, will I have lived my life as one wise or foolish? When life on this side is over, where will I spend eternity?

Scripture declares in Hebrews 9:27 As it is appointed for men to die once, but after this comes the judgment.

If you have not been living your days here on earth as wise, but as foolish, I urge, beg and plea with you on today that you would incline your ear unto wisdom that is only found in the Word of God. I can only hope and pray that your prayer too is "Lord, teach me to number my days".

None of us will escape death, for it is an appointment that we all will keep. It can not be cancelled nor avoided.

Seek wisdom on today. Seek God and the word of God. Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.

God bless.

Isaiah 26:3 PEACE

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

The mind is where unrest starts and is settled. The mind is the place where the enemy comes to in his attempt to take away your peace.

To rid ourselves of every thoughts that does not bring a peace of mind, and are not of God, we must bring those thoughts under subjection and authority to the Word of God.

When unrest shows up at the door of our minds, we are commanded in 2 Corinthians 10:5-casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

In this text, we are given a promise of God's “PERFECT PEACE” on today people of God.

To receive this “PERFECT PEACE" that God offers on today we must (1) keep our minds on Him and (2) we must place our confidence and trust in Him alone for He is the only who offers true "PEACE".

If you are in need of God's "PERFECT PEACE" on today, God has made it available to you. Seek Him!!

The Lord promises to keep those in "PERFECT PEACE" that completely place their confidence in Him by leaning and depending on Him to do the necessary work that is needed to bring about our much needed "PEACE" of mind in this crazy world.

Lord, help us to surrender our every thoughts to you in prayer. Help us to know that you have already given us a way of escape through prayer and your Word.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Father we thank you that in life’sfiercest battles and storms, our souls can have peace, rest and inward tranquility because of who we are in you.

We thank you Lord for the calm and quiet confidence  that you have given us by way of your “PERECT PEACE” on today that is found in your Word.

Father, we thank you on today for your “PERFECT PEACE” that surpasses all understanding.

We Love you Lord! THANK YOU.

Psalm 145:18 God Is Near

Psalm 145:18- The Lord is near to all those who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

Have you been wondering lately where is God in your life? Why does He appear to be silent?

I believe the question to be asked is not "where is God or why does He appear to be silent", but the true question is "have you been seeking Him, have you been calling upon His Holy and Righteous name?" Have you been drawing near to God in prayer and study of His Word?

Scripture declares that the Lord is near to those who (1) call upon Him and (2) those who call upon Him in truth. Are you calling upon the Lord and doing it in truth with a pure heart?

When we call upon the Lord in truth, we can run to Him with confidence in knowing that we will find Him to be our refuge and strength; our very present help in the time of trouble.

The invitation on today is to "SEEK" the Lord and draw night unto Him in truth. Will you do it? Will you call upon His name in truth? If you do, He promises to hear and answer your prayers.

The plea on today is to draw nigh to God for He is near to those that call upon Him, them that do it in spirit and in truth.

God is near!! Have you heard Him calling you unto Him?

I urge, beg and plea with you on today to draw near to God for I know without a doubt that you will find whatever it is that you stand in need of in Him on today.

As my Pastor, Rev. Isaac Holt says about God, "HIM ABLE"!

God bless.

Ephesians 4:29 Words That Build Up Or Tear Down? Which Are You Speaking?

Ephesians 4:29-Let no unwholesome word proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for building up, that it may give grace to the listeners.

The call today is to speak words that are good and wholesome. Speak what is helpful and not harmful to the well being of others. Speak what builds a person up and not tear them down.

Wholesome= Sound, whole, Healthy. Part of speech. Contributing to the health of the mind; favorable to morals, religion, or prosperity; conducive to good; salutary; sound; as, wholesome advice; wholesome doctrines; wholesome truths; wholesome laws.

We have heard the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." That is not true! Words do hurt!

Words can either build up, encourage, motivate or they can hurt, tear down or leave someone with lasting scars.

As people of God, we need to be very careful about what we allow to come out of our mouth.

As the saints of old would say, "If you do not have nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut"!

Words spoken out of our mouth are very important for the simple fact that they speak what is in our hearts.

Let's listen to Luke 6:45-A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart[a] brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

What are you speaking? Words that build up or tear others down?

Let us all examine ourselves on today by listening to the words that proceed out of our mouth. The wrong words can destroy and the right word can mend.

Proverbs 15:1-2 A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire. 2 Knowledge flows like spring water from the wise; fools are leaky faucets, dripping nonsense.

Words spoken out of the mouth of those who confess Christ should be those of wholesome words which edifies the body of Christ and glorifies God our Father.

Is God receiving glory from the words that you speak out of your mouth?

There are 2 types of people. Those that are wise and those that are foolish. Where do you place yourself?  Among the wise or the foolish?

Building up or tearing down? Which one of these does the words of your mouth produce?

God bless.

Isaiah 55:8-9 THOUGHTS

Isaiah 55:8-9  For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,  says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Think you know all there is to know about God? Think again, for God Himself declares in this text that His thoughts and His ways are not the same as ours, for His ways and thoughts are beyond our comprehension.

I am sure in all of our years of growing up we all have heard the old cliché “The Lord works in mysterious ways.”

This text is a reminder to all of us that our thoughts and ways are not always the thoughts and ways of the Lord our God who is “The Almighty God, The Sovereign God”.

God is infinite while we are finite. God is eternal while we are temporary.

The message of God’s kingdom, the “GOSPEL” is much different than the message of the world.

God’s message is one of “Salvation” through faith in Christ Jesus while the world message is one of “self”.

I will be the first to admit that I do not know it all. I have not yet learned it all and never will. I  am Debra and not God. God is daily teaching me, as I hear Him often say “not that way Debra, this way Debra, not right now Debra, but later Debra, wait Debra, I got this Debra.”

God wants to reveal many secret things to us as His people that others have desired to know, but it requires having faith and trust in Him, recognizing that He alone is God, accepting the fact that He alone knows what is best for you and I and He alone can reveal the hidden secrets of His Word to us.

Think about this for a minute. You and I have thoughts every day. And to us, our way of thinking is perfectly clear and reasonable.

Our thoughts make sense to us. In fact, when other people don't agree with our way of thinking, we think something is wrong with them not us, don't we? LOL!

The good knew on today is that God’s Word declares that regardless of what we suffer, God is with us and that at the end of our testing period, God will indeed work all things together for our good.

There is one whose ways and thoughts are higher than yours and mine, and His name is Jesus, and He is cheering us on to the finish line.

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for leading and guiding you into all truth and righteousness.

Luke 15:11-32 GOD'S LOVE FOR THE LOST

Luke 15:11-32 -The Parable of the Prodigal Son

11 Then He said, “A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the property that falls to me.’ So he divided his estate between them.

13 “Not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together, and journeyed to a distant country, and there squandered his possessions in prodigal living. 14 When he had spent everything, there came a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in want. 15 So he went and hired himself to a citizen of that county, who sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 He would gladly have filled his stomach with the husks that the swine were eating, but no one gave him any.

17 “When he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have an abundance of bread, and here I am perishing with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’ 20 So he arose and came to his father.

“But while he was yet far away, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran and embraced his neck and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. And put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet. 23 Bring here the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. 24 For this son of mine was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ So they began to be merry.

25 “Now his older son was in the field. As he came and drew near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what this meant. 27 He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him safe and sound.’

28 “He was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and entreated him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! These many years have I served you. Nor have I ever transgressed your commands, yet never have you given me a goat, so that I might be merry with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him.’

31 “He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 But it was fitting to be merry and be glad, for this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ ”

Psalm 34:14- EVIL

Psalm 34:14-Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

God, in His divine wisdom often gives us simple words that are used as a direction in which we are to take our lives or steer away from in our lives.

Evil is one of those directions in which we all are called away from on today. We are being called to depart from it!

Every day we are faced with choices and the choice we make is based on what we believe about God.

There is no way that we could allow ourselves to be deceived into believing that God will not punish evil when we daily continue to act, speak and live a life of evil doings in our relationship with our fellowmen on a daily basis.

Proverbs 14:12-There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end therefore are the ways of death. Death from willful sin that leads to eternal separation from God.

The call today is to turn, depart from every form of evil sayings and doings and desire a peaceful relationship with God, your fellowmen and with yourself.

If you are one who willfully pursue evil and the desire of your heart is to hurt or destroy others, God is speaking to you on today. He is calling you to (1) turn away from evil (2) do good, (3) seek peace and pursue it with a pure heart that has been regenerated and washed by the Word of God.

If evil deeds and words have been a part of your daily life, I pray that you seek God with these words that are found in Psalm 51:10-Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

When you have truly been redeemed and your mind has been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God your desire and pursuit will be that of good and not of evil.

When you have truly been changed, your prayer and your cry to the Lord during your time of temptation to go back to evil would be Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

When one is willfully evil against a child of God, you are not evil to them, you are being evil to God because they belong to Him.

When David sinned against God he took ownership of his sin and we must do the same. Let's listen to Psalm 51:4-Against You, and You alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight Lord. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.

Which have you chosen to do from this day forward? How have you chosen to live your life? In continual pursuit of evil or in continual pursuit of what is good and peaceful to all you encounter?

Today, ask God to search your heart concerning what is good, and seek peace and purse it with your whole heart.

God bless.

Psalm 119:105 CHOOSE THE WORD OF GOD

Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Oh, how desperate is the world and our nation for the need of God's Word to be a lamp to our feet and a light to our nations path.

The Psalmist declares in this text  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

The Psalmist,  in declaring this profound declaration,  is declaring that God's Word is the final authority in his life and that he walks by it in all his ways.

Is it your desire to allow the Word of God to rule and reign in your heart?

Apart from God's wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power, guidance and direction, our feet are set in the darkness of this world. BUT, when God Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, we have help in seeing the path that God has already cleared for us to walk.

It is the Word of God that gives us direction in our time of confusion, misunderstanding, weakness, uncertainty, doubt, calamity, fear, trouble, worry and on and on.

It is God's Word that has the power to sustain us through the rivers, valleys, ditches, trenches, issues, circumstances and difficult situation in life.

As we take the time to study, pray, obey and apply the Word of God to our lives, it becomes a lamp unto our feet and a light to our path for sure.

If there ever was a time when the Word of God is needed in the lives of people, the time is now.

The troubles, chaos and confusion we see in our  world is proving over and over again to us that the world in which we live is lacking the light of God's Word. .

In the words of my Pastor, Rev. I.J. Holt, Jr. "LORD, Keep my mind"!

Making a commitment to the Word of God is of necessity on today..

NOW is the time  to make a commitment to God's Word, for it will steer us in the right direction when we want to go down the wrong path. it will NOT stop us, but it will direct us. The choice is ours!

CHOOSE THE WORD OF GOD ON TODAY! The Word can, will,  is able and has the power to save your life now and in eternity.

When all else fails in life, the Word of God remains. That check can be cashed in heaven and on earth.

CHOOSE THE WORD OF GOD!

Debra
