John 19:16-Then he handed Him over to them to be crucified.
Jesus death on the cross was no accident. Make no mistake about it! God orchestrated every detail from Bethlehem to Calvary.
Pilate may have delivered Jesus to the cross to be crucified in a cruel and shameful way, but unknown to Pilate, he was fulfilling God's promise that God made to Himself before the foundation of the world to purchase salvation for our sins by the shedding of blood by His Son on Calvary cross.
The crucifixion of Jesus is our redemptive story. Without the shedding of His blood there is no remission of sins.
The verdict that came in against Jesus was "Death" by crucifixion.
John tells us in this text that Pilate handed over Jesus to His enemies to be nailed to the cross.
That day as Jesus hung on the cross with nails in his hands and feet, Jesus looked out beyond the crowd and looked into the future where He saw you and I.
At the cross that day when Jesus died, separation between God and man was nailed to the cross. Through Christ reconciliation between God and man was made possible by proof of a torn curtain in the temple at Jerusalem.
That day at Calvary sin, guilt and condemnation was nailed to the cross in exchange for grace, mercy, forgiveness and salvation. Redemption was complete for Jesus said it is finished!.
What is it in our lives that we need to nail to the cross so we can walk in newness of life with Christ?
What is it that we need to nail to the cross so we can live in the power of God’s Word.
The call to you today is to come to Jesus and nail whatever it is that is hindering you to the cross for the final payment for our sins has been paid and fully accepted by God.
Nail it at the cross for Jesus has given you permission to do just that.
God bless.
