Psalm 95:6-8 O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker. 7 For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.Today if you hear His voice,
8 do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, and as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,

This text is an invitation to worship the true and living God, who is our creator. We are called to kneel and bow our hearts in worship to the Lord in songs.

The call to worship is a posture of our heart that reveals reverence, humility and recognition of God’s authority over all of creation, including us.

What’s interesting about this call to worship God is that we are called to corporate worship as a body of believers. This means that we must not forsake the assembling of ourselves together at the House of God. We must meet together as much as possible. We are the Christian community of God’s people.

The command is to sing to the Lord in His presence, and shout joyfully. In doing so, we are recognizing our own limitations and our need for dependence on God.

We are to worship God with our whole heart. A worship that expresses genuine praise, worship, and adoration to the Lord our God with songs of worship that is free of deceit, or any hidden agendas. Songs of worship to the Lord our God in spirit and in truth.

Guess what? “It is the Lord God who has made us, and not we ourselves.” (Ps. 100:3, MEV) The Lord is our God and we are the sheep of His pasture. There is no other God!

The last thing the psalmist commands of us is to “harden not our hearts” as the Israelites did in the desert. We are being called to recognize and exalt our God with our whole being, and to remember His benefits.

For Christians today, this text challenges us to go beyond just singing praises in church. It calls us to give God the best of what we have, which is our time, talents, and resources. Bringing an offering doesn’t necessarily mean giving material gifts; it can also mean dedicating our lives, our work, and our efforts to God’s glory.

Come let us worship the Lord, feast at His table together! Sing of His goodness!
