Philippians 4:6- 7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Life is often filled with conflict, uncertainty and circumstances that leave the heart unsettled. But God’s peace is not dependent on problems disappearing.
Prayer and Scripture offer comfort in the midst of overwhelming circumstances. Rather than feeding stress through distraction, anger and or temporary comforts, we are invited to bring our burdensome emotions, burdens, grief, exhaustion, anger, and or temporary discomforts directly to God.
How can we combat the feelings of stress when they show up in our lives? To experience the peace awaiting us on the other side of our struggles, we must actively practice the framework the Apostle Paul provides in this text. We combat stress with, thankful prayer, and by opening God's Word to let His promises actively stand guard over our chaotic thoughts and heavy emotions.
I believe the call of God to us on tonight is a reminder of this truth: our worries cannot change our past, and our stress cannot secure our future.
Our challenge this week is simple: when life gets overwhelming, don’t run to distractions, instead let us open our bibles, cry out to God in prayer, and let the promises of God’s word remove our anxiousness and exchange it for absolute peace and comfort in God and His word.
PRAYER: Lord, let your supernatural peace that transcends all human understanding flood our hearts and minds right now. Stand guard like a fortress over our hearts and over our minds in Christ Jesus. Send us out into this week not in our own strength, but anchored securely in Your presence, in Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.
God bless you all and thank you for enjoying the ride with Jesus here on tonight.
