Proverbs 4:23 Guard Your hearts

Proverbs 4:23 -Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Guard our hearts! What does the word “guard’ means? The "heart" refers to our innermost being, which also includes our thoughts, emotions, desires, and motivations. Yes, our thoughts are at the center of our being. The place where our true values and beliefs resides, therefore, we must protect our thoughts from negative influences.

The heart in this text is referencing the mind. God, through His Word is warning us to guard our thoughts. Do not allow our hearts (mind) to become polluted from the thoughts of this world, but instead allow our minds to be renewed or transformed by the word of God.

The mind of a man reflects who he or she really is. What we say and do is a reflection of what is in our heart.  What's in our mind determines our attitude, and our action in all circumstances, therefore we must be very careful about what we allow into our mind gate.

Thoughts come to our minds from every angle of life. All day long, we encounter not only our own thoughts and opinions, but those of others as well. For this and many other reason, this is why it is key that we daily study the word of God and pray for guidance as we journey through life each day.

As the people of God, we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

What we allow to process in our thoughts, be it good or evil, will manifest itself through our words and our actions.

People of God, guard your hearts with all dillgence, for out of it flows the issues of life!

God bless you all, and be encouraged!
