1 Corinthians 10:13-No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
TEMPTATION=peirasmos in the greek and means an experiment, a trial, temptation. Testing, being tried, calamity, affliction.
Temptation can also be described as an enticement or invitation to sin.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in this text that temptation is a constant battle for us all, including Christians. The temptations in our life are no different from what others experience.
Despite our desire to avoid sin, we often face temptation due to our innate, flawed nature and a broken world. This struggle stems from the internal conflict between our sinful flesh and God’s divine guidance, which highlights the battle within.
“But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. 15 Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and when sin is finished, it brings forth death” (Jas. 1:14-15, NIV).
Jesus was tempted by satan after spending 40 days and nights in the wilderness without food or drink, yet, He NEVER yielded to it. What He did every time satan came to Him was rebuke with the word of God, and we must do the same.
When I was growing up as a young girl in the church, there was a song that the saints of old used to sing titled "yield not to temptation". The lyrics goes like this: Yield not to temptation for yielding is sin; Each victory will help you, some others to win. Fight manually onward dark passions subdue, look ever to Jesus for He will carry you through. Ask the Savior to help you, comfort, strengthen and keep you. He (God) is willing to aid and carry us through.
Yes, satan still prowls the earth in his attempt to draw us away from God and His will for our lives. Today is the day to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Temptation lurking? Yield NOT to it, but, instead, seek God for your way of escape because He has one for us.
God bless you all on today!!
