Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

This day is knowns as “spy” Wednesday. Its name refers to Judas (Jesus' disciple), acting as a “spy or informant” within Jesus inner circle.

On this day Judas secretly met with the Sanhedrin (council of Jewish leaders) and agreed to deliver Jesus to them in exchange for thirty pieces of silver.

Judas met with the high priests, who were seeking a way to eliminate Jesus without causing a public riot, because they were afraid of the people.

While the conspiracy happened on Wednesday, the physical arrest of Jesus occurred late the following night, on a Thursday.

I leave us all with this rhetorical question. What price have we placed on our soul? Is our soul’s worth temporary material gain, wealth or power?

Even if a person acquires everything on earth, it is worthless if they lose their soul, as earthly possessions are temporary while the soul is eternal.

What are you willing to, or have given in exchange for your soul?
