Genesis 16:13 When Hagar heard what the angel said, she said to herself, ‘I have seen the God who sees me!’ So she called the Lord ‘The God who sees me.’

The God Who Sees Me! This is the name Hagar gave to the Lord who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me."

People of God, when human rejection drives you into isolation, your brokenness becomes a meeting place with El Roi—the God who sees you completely.

Consider Hagar, an Egyptian slave girl of Sarai, Abraham’s wife, who was driven into the desert and collapsed by a spring after being harshly mistreated by Sarai. Hagar was pregnant, broken, alone, and had no plan and no safety net. She was invisible to the world, but God did not leave her. The angel of the Lord found her by a spring, spoke her name, and offered comfort and a promise for her future child as a descendant of Abraham.

People of God, I want to remind you of these truths tonight! God Sees Your Pain: Hagar realized God was not a distant, passive God. She encountered El Roi—the God who sees her suffering, loneliness, and affliction. God met her in her wilderness, and He is able to meet us in ours.

Lord, we thank you for being “El Roi,” the God who sees me!
