Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

“WAIT!” In the original Hebrew, the verb "wait" carries the beautiful imagery of twisting strands together to form a strong rope. When we wait on the Lord, we are intertwining our fragile lives and limited strength with God’s infinite power.

Throughout scripture, we see God’s people waiting for salvation, redemption, and divine justice. If we are honest, waiting is uncomfortable and contrary to our nature. We live in a fast-paced, microwave era where we want everything right now. Yet, despite our dislike for delay, waiting remains a necessary requirement that God uses to develop our faith.

When we get impatient and try to force our own doors open by running ahead of God, we step out of His perfect timing. God’s delays are never meant to punish us; they are designed to protect us and prepare us for what is ahead. People of God, staying steady takes a deliberate, daily choice.

As we look at our own lives today, we have to ask ourselves: What has God told me to wait about? More importantly, how am I waiting?

Father God, help us to let go of the urge to rush ahead of you. Teach us to stop fighting the delay and start embracing the intertwining.

Bind our hearts to Your promises, and help us to know that your best for us is always worth waiting for. Teach us to “wait on you Lord” when our flesh wants to move fast.

People of God, let the Holy Spirit weave our weakness into God’s strength because what God is binding together in and through us is always worth the wait.
